Meet Crystal

Hi, I'm Crystal!

I attended the University of Northwestern - Saint Paul and St. Cloud State University to learn and begin the adventure of being a band director and educator.

I have spent the last 9 years in the classroom - as a band director, special education teacher and substitute. As with many folks, COVID-19 hit hard and lead to me deciding to take a step down from the podium and venture into a much needed territory within what has become my home while maintining my love of kids by stepping in as a choir director for Unity High School.

I learned the repair craft as an apprentice during my college and early teaching years from Jim Thomas of Sir James Repair in Sauk Center, Minnesota. I have known Jim since I was 17 and was often in his shop learning tips and tricks before becoming his apprentice.

I am a clarinetist (25 years now!) and do my best to continue playing to keep my skills sharp. My favorite yearly events are the musicals hosted by my local schools and communities. To date, I have participated in the following musicals: Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Newsies & Beauty and the Beast.
